SIR - It has come to my ears that another stealth tax is on the way.
This one is an additional road use tax. We motorists (well, most of us) already pay our annual tax, but this is a further local tax, called Congestion Tax'. A rose by any other name?
Right, so if we are using the congested roads, we are not using the rest of the national highways. We cannot be using both.
Does this mean we collect our receipts from the congestion tax, then deduct it from our road fund licence the following year?
This would appear logical, reasonable, valid, even cogent. The only fly in the ointment - these people are not logical, they are avaricious.
Not only that, but they rule the country. Is this a dictatorship? Nah! Not here, not in England.
