SIR - Carers from across the country will be getting a well-deserved break in June thanks to the Norwich Union Breaks for Carers.
For many it will be the first time in years that they have had a break.
A carer is a person who, without payment, provides help and support to a member of the family or a friend who would be unable to manage without their help.
The last census identified six million carers in the UK and there will be ten million carers by 2010.
It is believed there are many more who do not realise there are support services to help them.
That is why the Norwich Union Breaks for Carers, organised by The Princess Royal Trust for Carers at Pontin's, are so important.
More than 1,000 carers and their families will be able to enjoy a programme of entertainment, leisure activities, fun and the company of others who understand what it means to be a carer.
If you are a carer, or know someone who is, and you would like more information about the support available, visit www.carers.org Lynda Bellingham, Celebrity Ambassador, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, Minories, London
