SIR - Alec Suchi and Keith Thomson question my motives. If independent figures are right, and we are contributing to climate change. Why do the Government tell us that there is overwhelming proof, yet do NOTHING about it.

Measures to cut our emissions would have to be harsh. If the Government were to ban the ownership and use of all private cars, and ban all aircraft flights (except emergency services) in order to cut emissions, then I would gladly give up my small car, and any plans to holiday abroad because I would know that they were serious.

It is the fact that they do nothing, yet allow more cars on the road every week, and allow air travel to spiral while increasing taxes on these increased emissions that makes people like myself sceptical.

Democracy does not enter into it. If the "facts" are correct, then all parties would be behind the most stringent measures. No party can put a price on lives.

If Messrs Suchi and Thomson truly believe that we are responsible, then I suggest that they lobby Government ministers to do something about it. Then sceptics like myself will become believers.
