SIR - Wrose Library members are still awaiting a decision on the proposed closure of their only "amenity". The lease was extended to the end of June which is fast approaching.
I am reliably informed that the owners of the building, United Co-operative Group, have generously offered a greatly-reduced rent and a long lease but that Bradford Council will not even discuss this offer which is strange as the original proposal to close the library was due to the increase in rent.
People have rallied round and joined the library and existing numbers have used it more, and it would seem to me that if this offer was accepted it would be cheaper to keep our permanent library open than replace it with a mobile unit which would be under-used.
