SIR - In reply to Beryl Erdely's letter (T&A, May 7), the Odeon certainly looks in a superficially poor state from the outside, with vegetation growing from the guttering and brickwork.
But as a member of the Bradford Odeon Rescue Group and someone who has seen the hundreds of recent photographs taken inside the Odeon last autumn, I can honestly say that this evidence shows the majority of the building is in as good a condition as it was the day it closed in July, 2000.
The part that's affected most by internal water damage is the entrance lobby box office and the staff rooms above. This appears to have caused wet and mouldy carpeting and peeling wallpaper.
It is also worth noting that no planning application has been presented to the Council regarding the proposed New Victoria Place development and, as such, the Odeon cannot be demolished until planning approval has been given by our city planners in Jacobs Well.
The fight to save the Odeon goes on.
