SIR - Recently several letters published in the T&A have complained most problems within the inner city area are the fault of our Council.

Who am I to argue, living out in the sticks? Perhaps life is slightly different than in the old city. Doubtless this is why so many elected councillors and MPs live in the Shipley constituency.

It is not a condition of being elected that one so chosen must live among the flock who voted for them.

I feel the main reason for this is due to the fact that those politicians with children would not wish to have their offspring state-educated within the area of inner Bradford. Who can blame them for flitting to the next constituency just up country?

Much better to reside in the promised land of Shipley. Heaven forbid they should soil their hands dwelling near the site where so many dark satanic mills once stood.

Do their electors not realise it is bad enough representing them? Thus weekend breaks in beautiful Shipley is the least that any decent voter should concede.

No wonder the price of property is so high in the Aire Valley.
