SIR – David Cameron, would now seem to be in a deep hole of his own making. His mission to abandon European immigration within the EEC would seem to be an “irresistible force versus an immovable object”.
Quote: “Reducing free migration is a no go area for the EEC.” There is a large portion of the population (see Ukip vote!) whom he must appease in order to secure a no vote on leaving Europe, notwithstanding the issues of the UK being subject to European lawmaking, business “red tape” legislation, plus agricultural and fisheries polices which favour mainland Europe.
By linking immigration to his list of demands, David Cameron has secured a yes vote from the people of the UK on the issue. Mr Cameron, when one is in a hole one should stop digging.
