SIR – Earlier this year, my friend was visited by the police at his Saltaire home, and warned for throwing bread to the ducks on the nearby canal.

I have just finished watching a television programme entitled Dangerous Dogs and Proud. As the title suggests, it contained possibly some of the most moronic behaviour one could expect from dog owners.

Some of them openly admitted they trained their dogs, in public areas, for their own “protection”.

We now seem to live in a country where gentle harmless activities have been overtaken by hideous uncaring behaviour, with the authorities seemingly struggling to differentiate between the two.
