SIR – I wish Bradford East MP Imran Hussain every success as he urges the Labour Party to return to old values (T&A, May 21).
If he succeeds, we will see a repeat of the unlamented Arthur Scargill calling the miners out on strike without the sanction of a vote and his intimidating flying pickets creating mayhem.
He must also remember Derek ‘Red Rolls’ Robinson hastening the demise of British Leyland with his strike calls by a factory-gate show-of-hands vote.
Today, it is the public sector unions who are threatening the stability of the count.
Mr Hussain is already proving himself an unsuitable replacement for David Ward who was an excellent constituency MP.
