SIR – I did imagine that post General Election we would see an end to the tiresome outpourings from your coterie of myopic, Left wing, loonies. But no! Never a day goes by without one of them making a pointless point.

Last week Colin Durkin imagined that those of us who did not vote Labour had been inveigled by the Conservatives’ PR machine. What insulting tosh!

For my part I would never vote for a bunch of well-heeled champagne socialists bankrolled and controlled by the union barons. Nor would I support a party that has consistently sought to buy votes with handouts to the work-shy and feckless.

The harsh reality, Bradfordian gentlemen of the Left, is that the Labour party has passed on. It is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet its maker. It’s a stiff. Bereft of life. It is a dead party.

You now need to move on. Take up bird watching, train-spotting, philately, numismatics, embroidery, whatever. Constructively you could form a collective to meet and intensively discuss the demise of the Norwegian Blue.

In the meantime gentlemen go away and stop annoying the rest of us!
