SIR – It’s ironic the Lord Mayor’s Parade has been cancelled, something about poor attendances last year. Plus it would have cost £83,000 of taxpayers’ money.
Where on Earth do they get these figures from? What exactly is it spent on? The stalls, exhibitions, dancers and parades are attractions in themselves, crowds gather to watch and it’s free of charge.
Police presence will be needed but not at £83,000. The same report also mentions it is to cost £900,000 to renovate/repair City Hall.
It may be a Grade I listed Building but many people say “people go into the building but never do any work, only cut services”. Never mind City Hall, spend the money on our roads, get Tong Street sorted out, as I’m sick of being stuck in jams there.
The ring road is another as are others across the city. You just couldn’t make it up. It has got to be a joke.
