Labour speaks with forked tongue
SIR – What wonderful news that soon no member of staff at Bradford City Council will be on less than the ‘Living Wage’ of £7.85 an hour.
But only recently Bradford and the other four West Yorkshire local authorities, who are by coincidence also under Labour control, spoke of being on the brink of inability to provide even basic services due to savage cuts in funding from the wicked coalition or Conservative governments.
That wages can be increased so much so quickly without affecting services or raising Council Tax looks like Labour was speaking with the proverbial forked tongue.
