SIR – Today the installation of the ceremonial Lord Mayor, (pictured) has been given full page coverage, whilst the councillors’ approval of the appointment of the new chief executive, who will actually run Bradford, only rates a short column.
Surely it would be newsworthy for us to know whether the councillors approval was unanimous, and if not who had the integrity to vote against the excessive £178k basic salary and total remuneration package of above £200k.
The salary is now legally binding, but the least that the council can do is to detail to the electorate just what Kersten England will have to achieve in order to justify our paying it.
