SIR – I am writing regarding doctors’ appointments. I’m fed up of ringing and just getting the engaged tone all the time. It doesn’t matter what time you ring you cannot get through. I have been ringing since 8.30am, it’s now 10am and still not got through. It’s disgusting.

I’ve been trying to see a doctor now for weeks, no joy. They say if you go to the surgery for 8am and wait you will then get an appointment. I don’t know whose idea this was but they want to do something about it. We cannot be ill to appointment. I have heart trouble and fractured spine but there must be someone worse off than me. Maybe when someone dies they will do something when it’s too late.

I’m not the only one waiting or complaining. My son has been waiting weeks. Hope something can be done about this, I can’t go out on my own as I’m off balance so my daughter has to go with me.

We live in hopes. See what happens, or go back to old style where you went to surgery and waited till it was your turn, but at least you got to see a doctor in the end.
