SIR - The full slate of Green Party candidates who stood across our district in the recent council and parliamentary elections attracted over 20,000 votes and showed that tens of thousands of Bradfordians want to live in a fairer and more environmentally sustainable society.

In Shipley, represented by Green councillors for the past fifteen years, more people voted for the Green Party than ever before. Cllrs Hawarun Hussain, Martin Love and myself are very grateful to everyone who supported us and who helped our campaign, and I will work hard to represent everyone living in this part of the district over the next four years. It is a privilege to be able to do so.

The new Conservative majority in Westminster has made it all the more important that we renew our call for more progressive governance and ahead of the Paris climate summit in November, campaign for a much more ambitious response to the deepening climate crisis that we all face.

Kevin Warnes, chairman, Bradford District Green Party, Green Councillor, Shipley Ward
