SIR – Not only has the £1,400 medium speed electric car charging point in the Ian Clough car park Baildon been unused since its installation five months ago,it has taken over not one , but two car parking spaces which have recently been adorned with the green painted charging logo.
This has denied the spaces’ almost permanent parking use, for being adjacent to the hall’s entrance they were convenient for the elderly who found climbing the hill difficult .
Although charging is free, parking in the charging bays will still have to be paid for, but I can’t imagine drivers hanging around in Baildon for 3/4 hours just waiting for their cars to be charged. So there will be no charging or parking revenue to offset the public cost No doubt before the installation expenditure was sanctioned, the Town Council will have assessed what use would be required to ensure that the chargers would be economically and environmentally viable.
Could we now be told what this was and who has the ongoing responsibility for monitoring and reporting on it ?
