SIR – After months of misery and expense driving up and down the dual carriageway near Thornbury Barracks the works appear to have been completed and I have to say that once we get used to the new layout the early signs are that it has all been worth all the frustration.
I have one criticism and I wonder if anyone can give me the answer. Coming from Pudsey and waiting to turn right to go to Leeds I stopped at the red traffic light.
When it was time to go I was tooted from behind. I could not see the amber or green light. They have these horizontal slats across them. Why?
I always thought lights were meant to be seen. There is another set of lights at the junction of Barkerend Road and Otley Road and they are also so heavily slatted that it is almost impossible to see whether they are switched on or not.
Can anyone explain what the purpose is?
