SIR – With regard to your feature (T&A April 25) on the Hey’s Trophy and the bantamspast annual dinner.
The Yorkshire Evening Argus reported on the 8 September 1923: “New billiards trophies have been presented by J. Hey & Co; Ltd; brewers, to the Bradford Hospital and Convalescent Fund and to the Bradford Province of the RAOB respectively, for annual competition.
The trophy is unique in design, being exact reproduction of a billiard table, along with two players, on a handsome plinth with large silver plate bearing the inscription.
The whole of the work has been designed and manufactured by Fattorini & Sons, Ltd; art gold and silversmiths, Bradford.”
