SIR – Re Low Moor Station (T&A, April 10). I’ve said it time and again, the station is to be built in the wrong place. It should be on the site of the former station, which would have access to the M606.
If it is built on the proposed site it will congest Cleckheaton Road even more during rush hour and cause mayhem at the bottom of New Works Road which is already a bottleneck with lorries coming/going to the massive industrial estates in and around Low Moor.
I just cannot understand what it is with these people who plan these things. It makes common sense to build near the motorway, a car park is already in place, which was to serve the failed Transperiance Project 20 years ago.
Wide open spaces either side where the former station was. The former engine shed site is now a conservation area, promoting wildlife. I’m sorry but, do the conservationist realise there are foxes, roaming across gardens at night, frightening children’s rabbits/hamsters.
I’m afraid the planners have not looked into these problems. Bad planning. The residents don’t want the station here but no-one is listening.
