SIR – Weeks ago Philip Davies called upon people to desist from negative campaigning. It is clear that Mike Pollard, Conservative candidate for Baildon, is not on message.
His attack on Joe Ashton, in the publication Baildon Matters, for the installation of a vehicle charging point in Baildon is unwise, particularly given that the initiative and the majority of the funding came from a Government Mr Pollard supports. It is compounded by the fact that Baildon Town Council, including Roger L’Amie, the retiring councillor he seeks to replace, supported the scheme. Then as now the town council included people of varying political persuasions.
For Voters in Baildon we should contrast the work done by both candidates.
Joe Ashton has actively worked to improve the quality of life and the environment in Baildon since the age of 13, when he joined the community council. Whereas Mike Pollard’s input and impact has been negligible by comparison, but he prefers to snipe from the sidelines.
Where is Mr Pollard when Bracken Hall needs re-opening or the carnival needs re-establishing? One thing’s for sure, he’s not alongside Joe making them happen.
If you want community action, support Joe Ashton in Baildon.
