SIR – The rail corridors into Bradford are rightly causing concern, being littered with debris (T&A, April 13). That from Shipley to Bradford Forster Square is a particular disgrace.
It must be borne in mind that this is not the fault of Network Rail, but those irresponsible individuals who think nothing of dumping rubbish wherever they please.
I actually wrote to Network Rail in March about the approach to Forster Square, asking that the copious amounts of litter be cleared. In their response they stated that the corridor between Forster Square and the football ground had been cleared twice in the last five years, and a further clearance was not due until November.
In the T&A article Labour Council leader David Green appeared to be claiming credit for previous clearances, saying that “some of (the) previous clearances are as a result of (his) interventions.”
As there have only been two clearances in the last five years, and he is claiming credit for “some” of them, methinks he is looking for more credit than he actually deserves. There must be an election looming!
