SIR – Should we be fearful of the Liberal Democrats having any involvement in a further coalition pact, or instead look forward as their dismal poll ratings show, to their “Armageddon” with a “big bang” then disappearing within a “black hole” in outer space, to be remembered only as “the party that never was”?

Or will they emulate the mythical Arabian “Phoenix” bird which destroys itself then is rejuvenated in 500 years time?
