SIR – It was with disbelief that I read the results (T&A, March 13) of the survey conducted by the Passenger Focus watchdog, indicating that eight out of ten West Yorkshire bus passengers were satisfied with the services provided.
I can only assume that those satisfied were not users of the 612 bus service, which must be the worst in Bradford.
For some months this service has been consistently late, or has not arrived at all, often showing an expected time of arrival of 15 minutes hence on the electronic bus-stop screen, then suddenly vanishing off the screen at the appointed time without any explanation, having lulled the waiting passengers into believe it was due, thus persuading them to eschew alternative (albeit less direct) buses which did come on time.
By the time these other buses have departed, the 612 bus reappears on the screen, now showing a further wait of 15 minutes (if one is lucky), meaning that the earlier one has “blobbed” completely, resulting in a total 30 minute wait.
In addition, the Market Street stop is like a wind tunnel, being open to the wind and rain. At least five buses to different destinations depart from this same bus stop, often within seconds of each other, resulting in a back-up of buses and consequent jostling of passengers vying for their respective destinations.
Customer satisfaction – I think not!
