SIR – I AM genuinely fearful for the future of a lot of people if the Tories get another five years to do their worst.
I am not poor by anyone`s standards and neither am I financially overloaded (the term rich is often misused). I have no problem with home ownership and no problem if people choose to spend their money on private health care.
Where I do have a problem is with gullible people believing that because they have the wherewithal to pay a mortgage and buy into private health, they have suddenly taken a step up in society and have become one of the privileged few.
There was a time when we actually did have a middle class and workers aspired to making the step up, and in all honesty it kind of worked, but make no mistake, this “middle” class is being removed from society and we once again see the situation arising where we have an “us and them” scenario.
Make no mistake, this present government do not want and will not tolerate a middle class.
Beneath all the oh-so-false sincerity you will eventually realise that if you are not one of the elite, they don`t like you and are not looking after your best interests.
