SIR - I understand that the Labour council has approved planning permission for 600 homes on the Fagley quarry site.
I am writing to call to account the integrity of those local Labour councillors who did not speak up on behalf of THEIR constituents. No one in this locality wants these houses built and these Labour representatives clearly know this and yet they did nothing other than nod the proposal through.
There is nothing right about this plan. It brings no advantage to those of us already living here. It does promise traffic chaos and loss of open field amenity.
At one time the Labour party stood for something. At one point they might even have listened to their neighbours and those who voted for them.
Our local Labour representatives should be deeply ashamed of themselves. Perhaps they should resign, if they no longer believe in the sovereignty of the people and the commonwealth of local communities.
