SIR – The use of headphones with phones and music players appears to be an ever increasing problem.
I have witnessed on more than one occasion, individuals walking across the road whilst totally unaware of approaching traffic.
As with the use of mobile phones in cars, this is a very dangerous practice for both the user and other drivers.
As with in-car phone use, this is extremely difficult to police.
As a driver who is very much aware that it is difficult to concentrate while engaging in a telephone conversation, I think that the public should be made more aware of the dangers involved.
