SIR – The Church of England Bishops do themselves little credit by interfering in the secular antics of political wrangling.
It may be a ‘moral duty’ to vote but there are far more ‘moral duties’ screaming out for their attention.
In our corrupt and degenerate society of today, child abuse, sexual malpractice, greed and a general disregard of all moral values should be uppermost in any priest’s agenda.
To care for the sick, poor and desperate is their mission and rightly most pursue this object.
But in this era, when there are no long-standing values regarding ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ shouldn’t the church be setting us on the right track again?
After all, weren’t we originally told ‘Man doth not live by bread alone’?
Voting is not the answer. No political party has the means to set us on a true ‘moral’ journey.
Surely it is about time the Church of England took up the challenge?
