SIR – Your recent coverage of the court case involving the dog breeders who kept their animals is squalid conditions sickened me, and many other people, I’m sure (T&A, March 13).
What kind of half-wit treats animals that way? And, more to the point, who would buy a dog raised in that environment? Your article really showed that if you must buy a dog then a registered breeder should be the place to go.
However, best of all is to go to a rescue, such as Dogs Trust or other reputable organisation. Although don’t be surprised if they consider YOU to be unsuitable to own a dog, due to home/work circumstances.
I really hope that when Mr & Mrs Marzan go to be sentenced, the judge gives them as much jail time as he can. It would also be nice if Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs checked to see if the couple had paid the tax on what they earned from breeding.
