SIR – ‘Bed-blocking crisis hits NHS hospitals!’ screamed the front-page headline (T&A March 14).
A local story in essence, but one that puts the blame firmly where it belongs – this Coalition Government’s cuts to local healthcare funding.
The main problem though is much larger. Since 2010 the Coalition Government have cynically and deliberately starved the NHS of billions of pounds worth of funding.
The invariable staffing problems, and pro-rata increase in waiting times, is quickly seized upon by the governments’ PR Dept – the (billionaire owned and rabid Tory) mainstream media, and voilà!! An almost daily, new, NHS crisis.
The solution, however, is so simple I am amazed it wasn’t thought of sooner. Privatisation. Hurray!!
Only last week, £780 million (of your taxpayer pounds) was handed over to a cabal of private healthcare companies to take up the backlog of NHS operations and scans. Of course you would never know it because the Fleet Street press have simply declined to report the story. It could be perceived by the electorate as blatant privatisation of the NHS – that would never do in election year.
