SIR – Keith Rayner is correct to argue that the current housing shortage has only arisen from uncontrolled immigration, and attempts to remedy this will be detrimental to our environment, as houses will be increasingly built in sensitive areas (Letters, March 7).
Unless the population is properly controlled and even reduced, the housing crisis will never be resolved. It is clear from its reckless decision to allow unprecedented mass immigration from 2004 that Labour should never again be trusted to govern the country.
The Conservative party and Liberal Democrats have also proved inept in controlling the population and the Green Party maintain a discreet silence regarding a sustainable population.
It is clear we need to exit the European union to better control our borders, and in this respect Ukip should be given electoral support in order to achieve this objective.
