SIR – How comforting to see David Cameron shouting from the rooftops about his plan to introduce hundreds more 'Free' schools.
These will presumably, as usual, be built in areas that already have sufficient places, leaving the more deprived areas sadly lacking in any choice of school places.
After the initial funding to the highest bidder to build these `free` schools, the financing and running of these schools will be taken out of local authority hands, leaving it clear for more sweeping cuts to public services (education) and for the privately run schools to employ unqualified teachers to follow anyone`s preferred curriculum.
This will leave yet another of our hard fought for rights, i.e. a good standard of state education for all at the mercy of profiteers.
I sincerely hope that all potential Tory voters are not taken in by this snake-oil salesman and his band of yahoo brothers at the next election... once your vote is cast, you can have no complaints when they really start to twist the knife when re-elected.
