SIR – An appeal is to take place against a seven man committee rejection of a Planning Application for 270 homes at Cote Farm, Thackley put forward by Persimmon Homes.
In simple terms the decision of a committee of seven LOCAL worthies who know something about the area and associated problems is to be re-considered by one person who like as not hasn’t a clue about where Idle and Thackley are.
The original committee considered various negative facets, appalling traffic congestion lack of school places (recently confirmed by articles in the T&A). danger of flooding, and loss of the last green space between Calverley and Bingley.
None of these objections has altered in nature since the original planning application.
How then in all logic could an appeal to build be agreed by an inspector?
Nothing has changed. Over a thousand citizens in Idle & Thackley don’t want this further profit-motivated attack on our environment! The Planning Committee knew that and did the right thing.
Finally as we are deemed to live in a democracy – let the planning inspector listen to the people, note the committee’s past decision and contact Persimmon Homes and explain that he would not like to be responsible for the desecration of Idle & Thackley’s last green space.
