SIR – What on earth is going on with politics? We now have a situation whereby the Labour Party has seen fit to put forward for the seat in Bradford West a woman from Tower Hamlets, London!

I am now aware that she has withdrawn due to “family reasons” but surely if we the electorate are going to select/elect a candidate to serve as our representative him/her must be from the immediate area with a knowledge of the locality and the issues that concern them.

We have already an MP in Bradford who is scarcely seen so come on let’s have horses for courses and a Bradfordian standing in Bradford seats not someone from the east coast of Scotland or the Outer Hebrides.
