SIR – The recent death of the actor and Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy (Mr Spock) sets me thinking how we should heed the dangers of smoking and the widespread damage to the lungs it can cause over long periods, as Mr Nimoy has found out to his cost. Thirty years after ditching the habit.
Simply don’t start smoking in the first place.
To those who have quit, or never started, remember Mr Spock’s famous words - live long and prosper.
