SIR – A lovely evening began as I arrived at the reception desk of Keighley Playhouse on Tuesday.
On arrival I said I’m a WI lady so they would know which ticket to give me (pre-booked/paid) and they asked if I was Rita, to which I obviously replied yes.
They then said they’d expected me to arrive ‘running’ up the stairs, red faced and out of breath’ (the usual way I make an entrance) to which I replied that my New Year’s resolution was to arrive anywhere in good time.
I took my seat, settled down and then the play started (The Fox on the Fairway). If anybody has a free evening this week, and if there are any tickets left, if you need a good laugh or need cheering up after the grotty weather we’re having – go along to see it.
The six amdram players were superb. Even the wrong word (certainly unintentional) caused belly laughs! I’ve seen quite a few comedy plays at the playhouse but this one tops the lot.
The players certainly took on the characters’ personas – with gusto, and the last five or six minutes were a delight!!
Truly a play not to be missed.
