SIR - Much-needed swimming pools are back on the agenda. Yes Councillors, do it asap even if you have to pawn our gold and silver. Often said ‘position is important’ so has it been considered to use the ex-police station due for demolition? This area was designated for leisure use in a former U D P and worth consideration.
The recent planning approval for two office blocks should no way be over looking City Park. The Nelson Street Site or many others would be more suitable for commercial uses. Having dealt with the planning department since 1949 when I first registered as a building contractor with the Government Offices gives me the confidence to comment.
Town planners are very necessary but occasionally get it wrong, or are compelled to change opinion. When I was on the committee for the building federation, planning was a very popular subject and it was often said by members that it depended which side of the bed the planners got out!
This new super sports/swimming centre will bring lots of people into Bradford but NOT on the Nelson Street Site, please.
In writing, can the forest of mature trees be eliminated behind the Magistrates Court as it is quite frightening to pass through.
