Pickles’ letter was perfectly justified
SIR - The letter to mosques from Communities Secretary Eric Pickles (pictured) will, I suspect, have widespread support from UK citizens, with its suggestion that the whole Muslim community needs to play its part in combating Islamic extremism (T&A, January 20).
That Muslim leaders in Bradford have criticised the letter and demanded an apology is hugely disturbing.
Rather than taking offence, they really should be taking on board the plea for help.
The way in which they are objecting to what was said makes one wonder just what agenda they are working to, and why.
