SIR - In the same manner Mr Hindle accuses Ukip and “their fellow right-wing parties” of being opportunistic as regards the atrocities in Paris, those embracing the so-called progressive agenda like himself choose to champion the cause of oppressed Muslims, describing them as “an already hugely demonised section of the community” (Letters, January 17).
In reality Muslims enjoy the same privileges as the rest of society and have not suffered any adverse consequences as a result of atrocities perpetrated in the name of their religion such as the London bombings or the despicable murder of Lee Rigby.
Mr Hindle and other renegades of the left should consider the persecution suffered by the oppressed Christian communities in Pakistan and Nigeria, as well as parts of the Middle East.
Does he have anything to say about these matters, or is it inconvenient to his distorted world-view?
