SIR – Anyone watching on TV the antics of the Government and the Opposition front bench spokesmen and women who make a squabble over toys at playschool look like an informed debate, must wonder how our country runs at all.
Although, of course, Prime Minister’s Question Time is a charade for propaganda purposes, with carefully selected questions put in advance in writing, the politically advantageous answers carefully worked out by an army of special advisers, leaving the PM and Leader of the Opposition to extemporise on their scripts.
However, I understand comedian Al Murray who, like UKIP’s Nigel Farage is rarely seen in action without a pint of beer in his hand, is starting a new party, the “Freedom of the United Kingdom”.
Maybe a bit of the saloon-type logic of the type heard around closing time is what the country needs to go forward, as at the moment it seems to be only going downhill fast.
