SIR – THROUGH your paper I would like to thank the Green Party, for highlighting fracking through the back door. I would suggest this Government is dangling the carrot to local councils for the go-ahead of fracking.
Fracking would bring to Bradford many issues, the process of extracting shale requires millions of gallons of water and would reduce water supplies.
What happens if we have a drought?
With the chemicals required for extracting shale gas, this can bring the risk of water contamination.
With fracking this will also create unavoidable increase in noise and air pollution from heavy traffic in communities close to fracking sites.
My understanding of energy company`s awarded permit, will be allowed to drill under communities, what issues will that bring?
I would suggest, the extra money (dangling carrot) on offer, to be pursued by our Bradford MPs to be invested in a green, renewable energy generation.
This will create jobs and reduce both energy bills and usage.
