SIR - It was good to see (T&A , December 16) that the Czajka Care Group has been receptive to the Herbert Protocol in keeping vulnerable residents safe. Czajka is one of a number of care and nursing homes which embrace new initiatives to enhance the experience of residents.
My wife has been resident at Hillbro Nursing Home, Baildon (part of the Holden Grange Care Group) for the past four years, which has also adopted this Protocol.
I have been very impressed with the way in which management and staff at Hillbro have actively sought out links with other organisations such as Alzheimer’s Society, NHS, BRI, Bradford Council, and the School of Dementia Studies at Bradford University, to improve practice and keep pace with new approaches.
We are very fortunate in Bradford to have care facilities, such as Czajka and Hillbro, of such excellence which are so open to new ideas.
Since we have had to experience Alzheimer’s disease, I count us lucky to be resident in Bradford where there is so much joined up thinking and co-operation.
