SIR – If Prince Charles cannot express an opinion to someone in private without it being made public, what is the way that we should prevent this happening again?

Do we ban him from speaking to anyone either in public or in private unless it is pre-scripted? Is he not allowed any views of his own?

This ban on high-profile personalities’ views must also apply to all members of the monarchy. It will surely have to apply to all MPs, public servants, leaders of industry and commerce, etc.

Surely this is just the press going too far when individuals, whatever their position, are not allowed to share a view with someone in private.

All because he gave an opinion shared by many. When one of the world’s largest military machines is put into action against a smaller nation, murdering those who stand in their way, it is very reminiscent of the Nazis.

Of course, that doesn’t matter. What really matters is that the press get their pound of flesh.
