SIR – I am a socialist and yet I am feeling sorry for my Liberal Democrat friends including my East Bradford hard-working MP and his fully-supportive team at his surgery.
What David Ward and Nick Clegg need to realise is they were punished not because of what they did, but for what they allowed their Conservative coalition colleagues to do.
The general public do not like the bedroom tax, student fee increases, the punishing changes to benefits, the sell-off of the Royal Mail, the 33 per cent increase to 115 from 85 in UK billionaires already during a period of austerity going on until 2018.
There are other things about this Conservative group in Government that the public don’t like, but too many to mention here.
Don’t worry about UKIP. If we came out of the EU having got in power they don’t have the experience, the expertise, the forward view of our country in their hands.
They are a one-issue team and would not know how to run the economy, schools, hospitals, the Treasury, transport, the defence of our country, etc, etc.
If anything happened to Mr Farage, does anyone know who would have the money to take over from him?
