SIR – After last week’s elections, taxpayers will be helping to fund the 27 UKIP Euro MPs who will now be drawing comfortable salaries and expenses from the European Parliament that they tell us they despise.
We all know where UKIP stand on Europe and on immigration. But whether we agree with them or not, let’s hear now how they would run the country.
UKIP want to privatise the NHS – if this is so, do you want pay to see your GP? What if you need an ambulance? Do you want to have to pay for private health insurance?
How will UKIP organise and fund care for our increasing numbers of dependent elderly people? How will they help our unemployed young people to find work? How will they fund and run our schools?
What will they do to make sure there is affordable housing for those on lower incomes who need to rent or buy?
Let’s hear from Jason Smith and other regular UKIP contributors to these pages exactly how UKIP propose to deal with these and other issues, which really do matter to us all rather more than whether we measure lengths in inches or centimetres, or buy our petrol in gallons or litres.
