SIR – During my period as Independent chairman of Bradford Safeguarding Children Board, I have appreciated the accurate reporting provided by your newspaper.
Unfortunately your headline on the story about the recent Ofsted inspection (T&A, May 23) is not totally correct.
Ofsted found the Safeguarding Board to be ‘good’, as opposed to the lower judgement of ‘requires improvement’.
In addition, the Board does not actually process referrals as suggested in your article.
Thank you for this chance to correct any false impression given and to reassure the public of Bradford that the Safeguarding Children Board is effective in the role it plays in co-ordinating the agencies that work to safeguard our children.
Nick Frost, Professor of Social Work (Childhood, Children and families), Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Leeds Metropolitan University, Portland Way, Leeds
