SIR – The call from Craven District councillor Graham Beck (T&A, May 28) for the closure of the railway crossing at Crosshills is certainly worthy of serious consideration.

There is no doubt that the frequent gate closures do nothing whatever for traffic flow in the area.

Indeed, if such a closure could be instituted, then wouldn’t the old crossing then be an ideal location for a new Kildwick & Crosshills station to replace that unfortunately closed in 1965?

Without doubt the re-opening of a station there is long overdue, and would I am sure be both welcomed and well used by the local community.
