SIR – Is the selection of candidates for the Shipley 2015 General Election fair and balanced?
The rise of right-wing parties such as UKIP are calling for Britain to leave the EU – a position backed by the Shipley MP Philip Davies.
UKIP appear, in my opinion, to undertake to enter into arrangement with Conservative Party not to stand against any sitting Conservative MPs who has called for Britain to leave the EU.
This will inevitably mean that in the 2015 general election you will not have the opportunity to vote for a UKIP candidate if you live in Shipley.
While I very much disagree with everything that UKIP stands for, I feel they follow repugnant ideology. I do believe that now there are four main political parties in Britain – Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem and UKIP.
The electorate should be able to vote for a UKIP candidate in Shipley if they would wish to do so. Otherwise how can democracy be seen to be working in Shipley at the 2015 general election?
