SIR – Horrible Histories indeed for both Jim Greenhalf and author Terry Deary in The Guide (T&A, May 23).
Jim quotes the Alhambra as having opened in “March 1914, three months before the horrors of the Somme”. Erm, two years and three months, Jim!
Deary then goes on to say that Burke and Hare enlivened Edinburgh evenings in 1827, “12 years before Victoria”. Didn’t she commence her reign in 1837, a mere ten years on? In fairness, Deary does claim not to be an expert.
