SIR – Having read the article in the T&A (May 12), I am writing in support of the Chantelle Bleau Memorial Fund (CBMF) set up by Pat Bleau.

I realise the Council have to make cuts, but £10,000 is not a very large amount considering the vital job that the fund does.

It is a small amount compared to the amount needed to put one addict through re-hab, so surely just like sex education in schools which is put on to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and early pregnancy, prevention is cheaper than cure as well as better. Taking money out of prevention is a false economy.

The CBMF does not only educate on volatile substances but on all legal and illegal highs, and teaches on identity issues and other issues around young people’s lives.
