SIR – The withdrawal of funding from the Chantelle Bleau Memorial Fund is misguided and will be counter productive.
Research shows that the typical return on investment in prevention is around £10 for every £1 spent – there is no way that any intervention or treatment programme can match this return.
More importantly, prevention reinforces healthy lifestyles and this doesn’t just save money – it saves lives.
Bradford Council would do well to re-consider their decision and recognise there is much truth in the old adage that ‘Prevention is better than cure’.
